AHANTA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY EMBARKS ON DREDGING EXERCISE

The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Eng. Ebenezer Aidoo and the Municipal Head of Works Eng. Frank William Nanor Gyapong from 9th to 13th June, 2025 lead a team of workers to embark on some dredging exercise within some selected communities of Ahanta West Municipal Assembly.The activity includes the opening and cleaning of water ways (From the By-pass to Muslim Community and Islamic School area),Opening, clearing and cleaning of water ways (from Muslim Community to By-pass), Opening clearing and cleaning of water ways (from My Brother to By-pass), Opening, clearing and cleaning of water ways (From halfway behind Baido Bonsu Senior High School fence wall)and Desilting and cleaning of drains from Damtsi junction to area behind the Assembly quarters. AHANTA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HELD A SPECIAL MEETING AT THE ASSEMBLY HALL

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held a Special Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

The purpose of the meeting was to reconstitute the Sub-committees of the Assembly.

The Sub-committees include the five statutory Sub-committees (Social Services, Finance and Administration, Development Planning, Justice and Security, Works), Executive Committee, Public Relations and Complaint, Health, Spatial Planning and the Education Oversight Committees.

In attendance at the meeting were the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive (Ebenezer Aidoo), Municipal Coordinating Director (Joyce Akosua Angmorteh), Hon. Assembly Members and Heads of Departments.

MCE’S VISIT TO DIXCOVE HOSPITAL

On 14th May 2025, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo (MCE), the MCD, and senior Assembly officials visited Dixcove Hospital to assess its operations and service delivery.
The visit forms part of efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in Ahanta West. Engagements were held with hospital management on key operational needs.

Several infrastructure and service issues were noted during the assessment.
The Assembly pledged support to address identified challenges.
Collaboration with relevant stakeholders will be prioritized.

Plans are underway to improve staff welfare and facility functionality.
Constructive dialogue aimed at long-term solutions took place during the visit.

MCE’S WORKING VISIT TO LOWER DIXCOVE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

On Wednesday, 14th May 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahanta West, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo, together with the Municipal Co-ordinating Director and Assembly officials, paid a working visit to the Lower Dixcove Traditional Council.

The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and traditional leadership for inclusive development. Nana expressed appreciation for the visit and briefed the team on plans to commemorate his 35th Anniversary as Chief, calling for Assembly support.

Key issues discussed included chieftaincy disputes, road infrastructure, sanitation, and planning challenges. The MCE assured Nananom of government’s commitment to addressing these concerns and pledged support for the upcoming anniversary.

The Jaasehene, Nana Mensah Kumah III, emphasized fairness in resource distribution and encouraged the MCE to motivate staff and promote peace across the municipality.Below were pictures of the visit.

MCE Visits Upper Dixcove Traditional Council to Foster Development Partnership
On 14th May 2025, the MCE of Ahanta West Assembly, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo, together with the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the Presiding Member, Hon. Isaac Bassaw paid a working visit to the Upper Dixcove Traditional Council. The visit aimed to strengthen ties and discuss development priorities.

MCE assured swift action on hospital, roads, school, and other developmental infrastructure. Education, roads, and health were top on the MCE’s response agenda
He revealed there were plans to organize Chieftaincy Forum for peace and unity

MCE’S WORKING VISIT TO AGONA – AHANTA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

MCE Pays Courtesy Visit to Nana Aziaku IV, Agona Divisional Chief and Agona Traditional Council
On 14th May 2025, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo (MCE) was officially introduced to Nana Aziaku IV and the Agona Traditional Council. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration for development. In attendance were the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the Presiding Member, Isaac Bassaw and key Management Members of the Municipal Assembly.

The MCE outlined his vision, focusing on roads, education, health & sanitation
Nana Aziaku IV pledged non-partisan support and called for inclusive governance. He highlighted on the support from the Agona-Ahanta Traditional Council towards the Municipal Assembly. Nana Aziaku IV urged the MCE to follow-up on the President’s promise for Agona Market. He called for completion of market stores to relocate traders and requested work on the Baidoo Bonsoe SHS road and fencing. He further proposed construction of a Municipal Stadium and Youth Centre.

HON. ING. EBENEZER AIDOO ENGAGES APIMANIM COMMUNITY ON PROPOSED CASSAVA PROCESSING FACILITY

Hon. Ing. Ebenezer Aidoo Engages Apimanim Community on Proposed Cassava Processing Facility
In a proactive move to stimulate local economic development, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ing. Ebenezer Aidoo, on Friday, 9th May,2025, led a delegation to the community of Apimanim for a strategic engagement on the proposed Cassava Processing Facility.

The visit signifies a major step in the Assembly’s quest to promote agro-industrial transformation and inclusive rural growth.

Hon. Aidoo, who has hit the ground running following his overwhelming confirmation, conveyed gratitude on behalf of His Excellency the President, the Western Regional Minister, and the Member of Parliament, to the Chiefs and Elders of Apimanim for their unwavering support and generous decision to release land for the project.

“Your decision to support this initiative by making land available is not only commendable but deeply patriotic,” Hon. Aidoo stated. “This project has the potential to unlock vast economic opportunities, particularly in job creation, value addition, and improved livelihoods for our people.”

He further noted that the facility, once completed, will serve as a critical anchor for enhancing cassava production and processing within the municipality. The initiative aligns with H.E. President John Dramani Mahama’s broader vision of promoting agro-processing and value addition as a strategy for sustainable national development.

The Hon. MCE was accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh; the Municipal Planning Officer, Pln. Jalil Ali Mahama; the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Dennis Adjei Antwi; and representatives from the Works Department.

As part of the visit, the team inspected the proposed site to assess its suitability and readiness for construction, ensuring all preparatory steps are firmly in place.

The Chiefs and Elders of Apimanim received the project with enthusiasm, expressing hope that it would become a catalyst for youth employment and long-term community transformation. They assured the MCE of their full cooperation and commitment to supporting the project’s success.

CONFIRMATION OF MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE NOMINEE AND ELECTION OF PRESIDING MEMBER FOR AHANTA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held a Special Meeting on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

The purpose of the meeting was to swear-in the new Government Appointees, elect a new Presiding Member and confirm the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive.

In attendance at the meeting were the President’s nominee, new Government Appointees, elected Assembly Members, Municipal Coordinating Director, Western Regional Minister and his entourage, Ahanta West Constituency and Western Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress, Traditional Leaders in the Municipal and several other distinguished invited guests.

At the close of the meeting, the new Government Appointees were successfully sworn-in, Hon. Isaac Bassaw Simmons was elected as the Presiding Member and the President’s nominee, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo, was confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive of Ahanta West Municipal Assembly.Below were pictures of the occasion.

MANAGEMENT OF AHANTA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY MET WITH OPERATION HERNIA TEAM & MANAGEMENT OF DIXCOVE HOSPITAL

The meeting was held on Monday, 5th May, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly. In attendance were the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, the Ag. Municipal Health Director, the Medical Superintendent, Dixcove Hospital, the Head of Administration, Dixcove Hospital, the Municipal Planning Officer, the Municipal Environmental Health Officer, the Municipal Finance Officer, the Municipal Budget Analyst and Chris Oppong (Surgeon from the United Kingdom).
The Surgeon from UK made a presentation on the success story, equipment procurement, and challenges of Operation Hernia. He mentioned that their aim was to correct hernias in disadvantaged communities in the Municipality.
The Assembly pledged its support to the team especially towards their next operation in August, 2025.
The Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Joyce Akosua Angmorteh expressed her appreciation on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive and Ahanta West for the tremendous support the team had provided to hernia patients in the Municipality.Below were pictures of the meeting:
