On Wednesday and Thursday, 29th and 30th October, 2025, the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it’s Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of its Ninth Assembly at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

The meeting’s agenda included an address by the Hon. Member of Parliament and Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, presentation of the 2026 Annual Action Plan, Composite Budget and the Medium-Term Development Plan.

In attendance at the meeting were the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive (Ebenezer Aidoo), Municipal Coordinating Director (Mumuni Shaiku Damma), Hon. Presiding Member (Isaac Simmons Bassaw), Hon. Assembly Members, Heads of Departments and other invited guests.

At the close of the meeting, the house successfully approved the 2026 Annual Action Plan, Composite Budget and the Medium-Term Development Plan.Below were pictures of the two days meeting:

The Executive Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly conveyed it’s Second meeting for the year 2025 on Monday, 27th October, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly hall.

The meeting was chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive, with the Municipal Co-ordinating Director and Committee Members in attendance.

Deliberations focused on key developmental issues including the 2026 Draft Composite Budget, the 2026-2029 Medium Term Development Plan, and the strategies to enhance socioeconomic development within the Municipality.

The Works Sub-Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held its second meeting of the year on Thursday 23rd October, 2025 at 2:35 p.m at the Municipal Assembly hall and the following deliberations were some of the major highlights of the meeting that was held.

Key Issues Discussed

The District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) Cordinator in the person of Henry Kweku Dadzie was introduced to members of the subcommittee. During his remarks, he stated that about 35% of roads within the Municipality have been worked on and he was looking forward to do more, hence the need for a dedicated fund for this purpose.

Major works done so far included reshaping, expansion of existing roads within the Municipality, dredging of storm drains and construction of culverts.
He added that, Communities which have had their roads worked on include Agona Nkwanta inner roads, Apowa TUC/GHACEM Estate inner roads, Banso, Fretsi, Adjuah, Funko, New Amanful and Fretsi roads.

He also informed members that Plans were underway to include Agona to Banso, Butre, Achonwa and other adjoining communities in the road improvement exercise before the year ends. The coordinator stated that his unit will work together with the Works Department of the Assembly.

He stressed on that, funding of DRIP was supposed to be made from DACF but the initiative did not go through so MMDAs have been urged to make resources available for the operation of DRIP.The coordinator in his speech emphasized that,fueling of DRIP machines are expensive so he pleaded with communities and Assembly members to collaborate and buy fuel for its operation to sustain the program.

Discussions were also held on abandoned projects that were at various stages of completion within the Municipality. It was agreed upon by all that those projects be repackaged and re-awarded for continuation. These include some borehole projects, GhanaFirst toilet facility and some GETFund classroom block projects.
 
It was also decided that Ghana Highways Authority and Justmoh Construction Limited would be engaged by the Assembly to address issues that have been raised by drivers and all stakeholders who ply the on-going Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta road that is being constructed. Members called for the need of breaks in the road median to allow motorists connect to communities along the road. For instance, one has to go all the way to Bokoro to do a turn from Takoradi to Beahu which is very worrisome. Below were pictures of the meeting:

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly Finance and Administration Sub-Committee meeting was held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly Hall.

The Western Regional Budget hearing for the year 2025 was held on wednesday 22nd October, 2025 at Shama Disrtict Assembly and in attendance were some selected MMDA’s which include:Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Shama District Assembly and Wassa East District Assembly.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday 21st October, 2025 visited the site for the new Western Regional Hospital at Apemanim in the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly. He inspected the project which was abandoned in 2023. The project is a 250-bed, five floor structure that will among others have modern surgical, ICU, Blood bank, Laboratories and Pharmacy, Children, Maternity,Female and Male medical and surgical wards.

The program was graced by Nananom of Ahanta Traditional Council,the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Hon.Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, (Minister for Health), Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, (Minister for Lands and Natural Resources), Hon. Joseph Nelson, (Western Regional Minister). Hon Mavis Kuukua Bissue, (Member of Parliament for Ahanta West), Hon. The Social Services Sub Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it meeting on Tuesday 21st October, 2025 at the Municipal Assembly’s Health Conference Room. The meeting primarily focused on issues relating to social issues within the municipality, including education, health, social welfare, and cultural matters.

The Management of Ahanta West Municipal held its meeting on Monday, 20th October, 2025, at the Municipal Assembly Hall, Agona Nkwanta.

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly had a brief but significant handing-over ceremony on the 8th October, 2025 at the Municipal Chief Executive’s office to mark the transition of leadership at the Municipal Coordinating Directorate. Mrs. Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the outgoing Municipal Coordinating Director, officially handed over the reins of office to Mr. Shaiku Mumuni Damma, the incoming Municipal Coordinating Director.

In her remarks, Mrs. Angmorteh expressed gratitude to the Heads of Departments for their cooperation and support during her tenure. She urged them to extend the same commitment and teamwork to her successor to ensure the continued growth and development of the Municipality.

Mr. Damma, in his acceptance remarks, thanked the Assembly and pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor. He called for unity, dedication, and professionalism among staff to enhance the delivery of quality public service.
