PUBLIC RELATION AND COMPLAINT COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT ASSEMBLY HALL

On 7th July,2022 the Public Relations and Complaint Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly met with all operators / managers of franchised Utility facilities (Refuse Dumps and Toilets) to discuss renewal of contracts and payments of outstanding arrears and continue with hearing of cases.

In attendance was the Presiding Member, Municipal Environmental Health officer, Municipal Planning Officer and Representatives from NCCE.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT BY MCE OF AHANTA WEST HON. JOHN AGYARE

The Honourable Chief Executive of Ahanta West Municipal Assembly. John Agyare on Monday 4th July,2022 had a stakeholder engagement with residents of Domeabra a suburb of Ahanta West to discuss the construction of Domeabra -Banso Road.

In attendance were Mr. Daniel Kanyage (Municipal Coordinating Director), Mr. Malcolm Yendew (Municipal Planning Officer) and Mr. Frank Gyapong (Municipal Head of Works)

Also in attendance were residents who have their structures along the said road. Below were pictures from the event.

2ND MEETING OF MSE SUB COMMITTEE MEETING

The Sub Committee of the Business Advisory Centre held it 2nd meeting for the year on thursday, 30th June,2022 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

The meeting commenced at 11:00am after a quorum had been formed.The main agenda for the meeting was to brief new members of the committee on the mandates of the MSE Sub Committee. Some of the issues includes the following:

  • Roles and functions of the MSE Sub Committee
  • Membership of the Committee
  • MSE Sub Committee meetings
  • Fundings for MSE Sub Committee among others

Minutes of the previous meeting was also read to members and issues discussed accordingly. Recommendations were also made to the Executive Committee. Below were pictures during the meeting.

On the 30th June,2022 at the Municipal Assembly Hall, Agona Nkwanta. The Public Relations and Complaint Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it second meeting of the year to discuss and resolve some complaints made.

In attendance was the Presiding Member, Municipal Environmental health Officer,Municipal Planning Officer, Representatives from NCCE,CHRAJ, ISD,NGO and other Assembly Members.

Cases Heard were as follows:

  • Francis Prah Vs Bokoro Unit Committee Member (Alleged borehole construction without prior consent or compensation)
  • Hon. Thomas Nana Odo Kwesi Vs  Agona Unit Committee Members (Alleged issues of forceful takeover of the management of refuse)
  • Hon. John Godfred Kwofie Vs Achonwa / Medinya Unit Committee Members (Alleged issues of neglect of duties by Unit Committee)

GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR BIO DIGESTER AND BASIC PLUMBING TRAINEES

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly and the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) organised a 5 Day skilled development training programme in Bio Digester and basic Plumbing Works for 35 youth in the Ahanta West Municipality.

Graduation ceremony and movie show was organised for the trainees on Tuesday, 28th June, 2022 at the Municipal Assembly Hall. Certificates were also presented to the trainees to boost their confidence towards the task ahead of them as they begin their jurney to the job market. Below are pictures from the programme.

AHANTA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HELD AUDIT COMMITTEE MEETING

The Audit Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it’s meeting on Thursday, 20th May,2022 at the Health Conference room. The meeting commenced at 11:54 am after a quorum had been formed.
The main agenda for the meeting was to:
1. Elect a new Audit Committee Chairperson.
2. Discuss issues arising from the previous meeting
3. Discussion of 2021 Management Letters.

Members contributed fruitfully towards a successful meeting. In the absence of any further deliberations, Mr. Ernest Appah moved for the adjournment of the meeting. He was seconded by Hon. Eric Bordoh. The meeting ended at 3:22 pm with a prayer by Hon. Eric Bordoh

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH UNIT OF AHANTA WEST ORGANIZED TRAINING FOR FOOD AND DRINK HANDLERS AT ABURA COMMUNITY CENTER

The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Ahanta West Municipal as part of ensuring that Food Handlers within the Municipality handles food under strict hygienic conditions organized a day training programme on the theme “Food Sanitation; the role of the food handler” at the Abura Community Center on Friday, 20th May, 2022.

Fifty-Four (54) participants from different chop bars, restaurants and school feeding catering services attended this all-important training.  Also, in attendance were nine Environmental Health Officers and a secretary from the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly. 

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Ted Tettey who facilitated the training briefed participants on their role as major stakeholders of the food industry in ensuring food sanitation.  Issues discussed at the training included;

  1. Capacity building for restaurants and chop bar operators. In building their capacity, Participants were educated on personal hygiene, care in shopping and storing food stuffs, care in preparation of food as well as care in serving food.
  2. Laws regulating the food industries. Food Handlers were briefed on the laws that governs food safety and the implications of violating those laws.
  3. Practical demonstration of hand washing techniques. Participants were taken through a practical session of proper handwashing in achieving food safety.

Participants were thankful to the Assembly for organizing such an educative programme for them and suggested the Assembly organizes same periodically.
