On Friday, November 29, 2024, the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held its Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Assembly at its Municipal Assembly. The meeting was held to discuss various issues relating to the Assembly.

Prominent on the agenda were the presentation of the Municipal Chief Executive’s Sessional Address and Recommendations from the Executive Committee’s Report, presentation of the 2025 Annual Fee-fixing and Composite Budget, presentation of 2025 Annual Action Plan, and presentation of the recommendation of the Public Relations and Complaint Committee (PRCC).

In attendance were Hon. John Agyare (Municipal Chief Executive), Mrs. Joyce Akosua Angmorteh (Municipal Coordinating Director), Honourable Assembly Members, Heads of Department and some members of staff of the Assembly.Below were pictures of the event:

The office of the Local Government Service in collaboration with E solution on 13th November, 2024 organized a one day training on smart workplace for all staff of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly.The core aim was to introduce staff to the usage of the smart workplace within the institution and also to understand the paperless system of work.

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it Second Ordinary General Assembly on 14th September, 2021

at the Ahanta West Assembly Hall.

The Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, on the 1st and 3rd October,2024 paid a working visit to some Chiefs within the municipal. In attendance for the visit were the Municipal Chief Executive Hon John Agyare, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the Municipal Finance Officer, the Municipal Budget Officer, the Municipal Procurement Officer, and the Director of Administration.

The visit was to thank the chiefs for their contribution to the development of Ahanta Land and to introduce the new administrative Head of the Assembly, the coordinating Director, Mrs. Joyce Akosua Angmorteh.

The Coordinating Director, Mrs. Joyce Angmorteh, thanked the Chiefs for accepting her visit to their various palaces and promised to have a good working relationship with all the chiefs in the Municipality. She emphasized that she is in for the development of the municipality and that anything outside the development of the municipality would not be part of her agenda.

The Chiefs also thanked the Assembly led by the MCE for an honor and assured them of peace and a close working relationship with the Assembly. The Chiefs mentioned that the palace operates an open-door policy and the new MCD was always welcome to pay a working visit.

The Executive Committee of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly had its second meeting on Thursday, 19th September 2024 at the Municipal Assembly Hall, Agona Nkwanta.
Present at the meeting were the; Chief Executive, Hon. John Agyare, the Co-ordinating Director, Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, the Head of Central Administration, Mark Mintah Sarkodie, Chairpersons and Secretaries of the various sub-committees, Chairpersons and Secretaries of the six (6) Zonal Councils.
The meeting begun at 11:12 A.M. with the opening prayer said by Hon. Desmond Okine. After the welcome remarks by the Hon. MCE, he introduced the newly posted Co-ordinating Director, Joyce Akosua Angmorteh to members present. The MCD expressed appreciation to all and called for support from members to enable her work effectively.
Key issues discussed at the meeting were;
1. Reports and recommendations from sub-committees
2. Reports and recommendations from zonal councils
3. Presentation, Discussion and Approval of the 2024 Revised Action Plan
4. Presentation, Discussion and Approval of the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review
5. Presentation, Discussion of the 2024 Second Quarter Financial Report
6. Discussion of the Auditor General’s Report
Some recommendations were made to the General Assembly and others noted for Managements action. The meeting ended at 2:42 P.M. after Hon. Members called for its adjournment.

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held it staff durbar meeting on 4th September, 2024 at the Assembly Hall to officially introduce the newly posted Municipal Coordinating Director to all staff of the Assembly and also deliberate on issues concerning staff welfare and the way forward.
In attendance was grace with the presence of the following: the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon John Agyare, Municipal Coordinating Director Mrs Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, Mad, Judith Nana Ampomah, Human Resource Manager, Heads of the various Departments and all Staff.
The MCE, Hon. John Agyare welcomed all staff and commended them for their punctuality to the meeting. He said the meeting was organized to officially introduce the new Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh to Staff. He indicated that, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh would continue the good work started by Mr. Daniel Kanyage. He appealed to all Staff present to give their maximum support to Madam Joyce Angmorteh in order to make Ahanta West Municipal Assembly one of the best Municipalities in the Nation.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, in her speech welcomed all staff to the durbar. She touched on staff welfare as dear to her heart and urged Staff members to adopt team work as the major key to achieve collective success as far as the Municipal Assembly’s vision is concerned.

The MCD indicated that, operationalization of all six (6) Zonal councils would soon take off and some staff would be posted to work in the zonal councils. She said, one year rent advance would be paid for all staff who accept posting to the zonal councils.
She also, indicated her intention to put together a revenue mobilization taskforce with representatives from all departments. She also touched on Staff punctuality to work and encouraged all staff to be punctual at work. She stressed on the need to observe the protocols and channels of communication. She said staff should first communicate through their heads of departments to the Municipal Coordinating Director for the Municipal Coordinating Director to take the issues up to the Municipal Chief Executive where necessary.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh finally admonished staff to exhibit professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with clients of the Assembly as well as community members.

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Management of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly held its Meeting at the Municipal Assembly Hall, Agona Nkwanta.

Primarily, the meeting was to introduce the new Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, and the new Head of Administration, Mr Mark Mintah Sarkodie, to Management Members.

Also, discussions were held on how to improve revenue generation in the Municipality.

In attendance were Hon. John Agyare (Municipal Chief Executive), Mrs Joyce Akosua Angmorteh (Municipal Coordinating Director) and Heads of the Department of the Assembly. Below were pictures of the meeting.

The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly on 20th August,2024 held a Send-Off Ceremony for the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Daniel Kanyage at the municipal Assembly Hall.
