AHANTA WEST MUNIDIPAL ASSEMBLY TAKES PART IN THE PHASE TWO- NATIONAL DISINFECTION FUMIGATION AND CLEANING OF MARKETS LORRY PARKS PUBLIC TOILETS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN ALL METROPOLITAN. MUNICIPAL AND DISTRICT ASSEMBLIES

In the wake of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country in March 2020, H. E. the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo directed the Ministry’ of Local Government and Rural Development to coordinate with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to enhance hygiene in markets, lorry parks, and other public places across the country in order to contain the spread of the virus.

Following the directive, a number of activities were initiated including the disinfection (markets, lorry parks and public places), public education and sensitisation of market women on COVID-19 between March and April, 2020.

The second-phase of the disinfection, fumigation and cleaning of markets, lorry parks, public toilets and public places would come off throughout the sixteen (16) regions across the country.

AHANTA WEST BENEFITS FROM THE PLANTING FOR EXPORT AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (PERD) PROJECT.

The Municipality had received five (5) greenhouses which is aimed at training and building the capacity of the local farmers to boost production of essential vegetables to meet the demands of the Municipality and hence reduces food imports.

The Municipal Department of Food and Agriculture also Distributed palm Seedlings to farmers who had registered with them.
