A sod-cutting ceremony has been held at Funkoe on Thursday, 29th January, 2026. This is to mark the commencement of a six-unit classroom block project aimed at easing congestion and improving teaching and learning conditions at the local school.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ebenezer Aidoo said, the project underscored the Assembly\u2019s commitment to inclusive development and enhanced service delivery.<\/p>\n

He further added that, \u201cThis event is not merely symbolic; it represents our collective commitment to development, equity, and improving the quality of life of our people,\u201d.<\/p>\n

He explained that the Funkoe classroom block forms part of a broader package of development projects being implemented across the municipality.
\nThese include the construction of additional classroom blocks at Egyambra, the rehabilitation of the Busua\u2013Dixcove steel bridge\u2014now nearing completion\u2014the construction of two CHPS compounds at Akyernyin and Miemia, as well as the drilling of boreholes in 20 communities.<\/p>\n

According to him, the provision of boreholes across all electoral areas is intended to ensure equitable access to potable water, promote good health, and uphold the dignity of residents.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Hon. Mavis Kuukua Bissue, described the project as historic for both the school and the Funkoe community. She noted that the initiative aligns with a broader development agenda for the constituency.<\/p>\n

She indicated that, several infrastructure projects were being carried out across the constituency, and She will ensures that Ahanta West remains one of the best places to live, work, and vote. Hon. Mavis Kuukua assured the community that all promises made will be delivered, one by one.<\/p>\n

The contractor for the project assured stakeholders of quality work and appealed to community members to protect the facility upon completion.<\/p>\n

The project is being funded through the District Assembly Common Fund. The Municipal Assembly has completed all technical preparations, with construction expected to commence next month.<\/p>\n

In attendance were; the Municipal Coordinator Director, Mr. Shaiku Damma, Head of Administration, Mr. Mark Sarkodie, Head of Works, Mr. Isaac Kumi, Municipal Budget Analyst, Municipal Finance officer, Planning unit, Audit, Presiding Member, Procurement Officer, NDC constituency Chairman, Assembly member and Chief of the area.
